How To Make Your Own: Ketchup

Love from scratch cooking?  Me too.  Here is how to make your own ketchup.

Here's what you need:

  • 1 can whole tomatoes
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of celery salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

Here's what to do:

  • Blend the tomatoes
  • Cook onion in oil for 7-8 minutes
  • Mix in other ingredients into onions and simmer one hour
  • Blend the entire mixture
  • Chill and serve

Inexpensive, quick (Prep time under 10 minutes), and easy . . . this one will spoil you!
